The Big Slough Project for migratory bird Habitat. This lake is maintained by the Tennessee Wildlife Service and Ducks Unlimited. The level of this lake can be maintained independent to that of the Chickamauga Lake. Hiwassee River 0.5Lmm
Each year many visitors come to the view the annual migration of the Sandhill Crane to this lake. In the parking area cars from virtually every state are represented.
